Neben Typ III wird auch Typ II für eleganteres Knüpfen verwendet und 'Typ I', 'Micro' und 'Nano' werden oft als Zubehörkordel verwendet. Der Begriff "Milspec Paracord" wird für Paracord verwendet, das nach den strengen Spezifikationen des US-Militärs hergestellt wird und sich sehr gut zum Knüpfen im Freien eignet.
